On behalf of the Committee of the State Duma for Health Protection, I cordially welcome the organisers, participants and guests of the 8th International Specialised Exhibition «PHARMTECH 2006 — Technologies of Pharmaceutical Industry»!

Production of pharmaceuticals and medicines, as well as the latest launches and achievements in this field, are the most important issues in the field of health protection. Quality of medicines has a direct implication on the life quality of people. With the implementation of the Programme for the additional supply of certain categories of citizens with medicines and top priority national project «Health», these issues became of special importance, which is proved by the record growth of pharmaceutical market over the past two years.

I also want to mention positive dynamics in the development of Russian pharmaceutical industry: quality and assortment of products in some Russian companies comply with the international standards.

I hope that this forum will provide an opportunity to discuss all critical issues of industry development and outline further work for the saturation of our market with high-quality and affordable medicines. It is also necessary to find new approaches towards the improvement of competitiveness of Russian enterprises. I wish all participants of the exhibition productive work and success in the implementation of projects.
