The 11th Moscow International Exhibition “Pharmtech – Technologies of Pharmaceutical Industry” took place from 24 to 27 November 2009 in Crocus Expo. This event is organised by ITE, an international company running more than 200 annual specialised exhibitions and conferences. In Russia, ITE organisers major exhibitions in Moscow, Novosibirsk and St. Petersburg.

At the opening ceremony, A. Shtalenkov, General Director of ITE, read out a welcome letter of O. Borzova, Chairman of the Committee of the State Duma of the RF for Healthcare, saying: “This year the Strategy of Pharmaceutical Industry Development up to 2020 has been developed. An important step in the implementation of this plan will be the adoption of the Law “On Medicine Turnover”. Products, equipment, project and the business programme presented at the exhibition will become a good foundation for development of new ideas”.

K. Gertsev, First Deputy of Healthcare of Moscow Region, said: “Development of Russian pharmaceutical industry, provision of people with high-quality medicines is an important state task mentioned by Dmitry Medvedev in the Address to the Federal Assembly. Pharmtech is a specialised exhibition featuring the latest achievement of the pharmaceutical industry. Introduction of such achievements will allow rising the production level up to new quality standards”.

This year about 200 companies from 21 countries participated at the exhibition. They include newcomers to the exhibition: Brinox (Slovenia), Concept GMP Engineering (Germany), Coster (Italy), Kinematica AG (Switzerland), Bion, Simas Interlab and Thermo Techno (Russia).

Traditional Pharmtechprom Forum took place alongside the exhibition featuring issues of practical introduction of GMP rules and requirements in production processes. The Forum was attended by representatives of chemical-pharmaceutical companies of Russia and CIS, leading European producers of raw materials, packaging and equipment for pharmaceutical industry, leading experts and analysts of the market.

The first day of the Forum was opened with a panel discussion “Russian Pharmaceutical Producers: Who are They?” bringing together more than 90 specialists.  Presentations were made by leading experts of the industry: D. Melik-Guseinov, Head of the Department of Marketing Research of Pharmexpert, V. Dmitriev, general Director of the Association of Russian Pharmaceutical Producers, E. Nevolina, Director of Russian Pharmacy Chamber, and others.

The second day of the Forum was dedicated to raw materials and technologies used in the pharmaceutical industry. Presentations were made by top managers and leading specialists of ISP Corporation (USA), FMC Biopolymer (Belgium), Croda Corporation (UK), BASF, Jentec Trading (Germany), IMA Kilian (Germany), Innojet Herbert Huttlin (Germany), Donau LAB (Switzerland), LSMW (Germany).

Session of the third day was dedicated to pharmaceutical packaging and attended by specialists from Schott Forma Vitrum (Hungary), Helvoet Pharma (Belgium), Gerresheimer Bunde GmbH (Germany), SGD S.A. (France), Preiffer/Valois (Switzerland), Bausch Advanced Technology (USA), Telstar Technologies (Spain) and others.

Pharmtech was held under the support of the Committee for Social Policy and Healthcare of the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of the RF, Ministry of Industry and Trade of the RF, Federal Service for Supervision in the Field of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Well-Being, Federal Service for Supervision in the Field of Healthcare and Social Development, Moscow Government, Moscow City Duma, Ministry of Healthcare of Moscow Region, Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs and Association of Russian Pharmaceutical Producers.

In 2010, International Exhibition “Pharmtech – Technologies of Pharmaceutical Industry” will be run from 23 to 26 November at a new venue – All-Russian Exhibition Centre (VVC), Pavilion 75, alongside Ingredients Russia exhibition. Running these two events together provides for demonstration of the full range of equipment, technologies and ingredients for food, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industry under the same roof.
